The approach
Why the website exists before the company
This site went up before there was a legal entity behind it. That order was chosen, and it is worth explaining rather than hiding.
Oregon's business registry is public. A memorable name filed there is visible to anyone watching, and the matching domains stop being available very shortly afterwards – not to be used, but to be sold back at a markup. Registering first closes that window before it opens.
Domains need a history
Receiving mail servers treat a brand-new domain with suspicion, and they are right to. A domain that has carried a consistent site for months before its first message is a different sender from one registered on Tuesday and mailing on Wednesday.
Saying nothing, verifiably
The plan is that a domain sending no mail says so in DNS, in a form any receiving server can check, so a forged message fails authentication outright. That is written down and not yet true here. Today the name still answers with the defaults its registrar parked on it, and it stays that way until the zone moves to its long-term host.
The sequence is the product
Doing the irreversible things early and the reversible things late is most of what competent operations amounts to. A provider that cannot run that discipline on its own name is unlikely to run it on yours.
